The Culinary Tourism Alliance is a not-for-profit organization on a mission to ensure that culinary tourism is a meaningful and sustainable contributor to local economies in destinations worldwide.

We work with communities to grow culinary tourism by leveraging the history, heritage and culture behind the food and drink that makes each destination unique.

We are searching for a remarkable, passionate person who will help execute against our content-first marketing strategy and bring our campaigns to life through engagement and design.

About the Role & Responsibilities

The Marketing & Membership Manager is a senior leadership role responsible for marketing strategy, member engagement and revenue generation. This role carries sales accountability for cooperative marketing programs and content trip packages and leads membership growth and renewal strategies. The Manager oversees social media and brand management, team leadership, website oversight, PR/media and industry communications. They also own the responsible use of AI within marketing and sales workflows to increase output quality, efficiency, and conversion. Representing the CTA at events and conferences, they strengthen brand visibility, foster partnerships and drive organizational growth.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop annual marketing and communications strategies aligned to organizational goals

  • Oversee all CTA communications, marketing and public relations activities

  • Steward the CTA’s brand and reputation across all channels

  • Represent the CTA at conferences and events; speak on behalf of CTA marketing initiatives

Revenue, Sales & Partnerships

  • Own revenue targets for cooperative marketing campaigns, content trip packages and membership growth/renewals

  • Build and manage a proactive pipeline (prospecting, outreach, discovery) across DMOs, operators, and sector partners

  • Lead the full sales cycle: scope and price solutions, craft proposals, present/pitch, negotiate terms, and close agreements in line with CTA guidelines

  • Manage contracts and fulfillment in partnership with internal teams; ensure deliverables are executed on time and on budget

  • Forecast and report on sales and revenue; maintain accurate records in the CRM and deliver monthly performance updates

  • Identify upsell/cross-sell opportunities that increase member value and ROI

Marketing & Content

  • Develop, execute and report on all cooperative marketing campaigns

  • Oversee content creation and the annual content calendar

  • Manage all PR and media relations, including outreach and maintenance of the CTA media database

  • Oversee the development of quarterly and annual communications reports

  • Manage website maintenance and the relationship with web developers; ensure SEO, UX, and content performance standards are met

Team Leadership

  • Manage the marketing and membership team (attraction, hiring, training, supervision, performance assessment, and career development)

Qualifications

  • Based in Ontario (within 2 hours of the GTA is an asset) with a valid driver’s licence

  • Progressive experience in a marketing role; B2B experience and partnership development an asset

  • Demonstrated experience owning a sales pipeline and closing B2B deals ideally in tourism/marketing

  • Hands-on experience applying AI in marketing/sales workflows (prompting, QA, playbooks, basic automations) with a responsible-use mindset

  • Familiarity with CRM and email automation platforms and marketing analytics

  • Sound knowledge of Brand Marketing, Communications, and Design

  • Strong community management skills

  • University or College degree, ideally in Marketing and/or Communications

  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally on brand strategy and to deliver sales/marketing materials that drive conversion

  • Experience directing small-but-mighty teams

  • Strong knowledge of digital marketing strategies and tactics

  • Strong knowledge of social media advertising with experience developing strategies to support company and brand objectives

  • Superior written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to travel and work occasional weekends and evenings as required

  • Strong relationships with and knowledge of Canada's tourism industry are an asset

  • Unbridled passion for local food, drink, and travel

Salary Range is $80,000 - $90,000, plus benefits.
