Bondi Produce: Distributing since 1976

Bondi Produce is a food distributor to the GTA and well beyond. Delivering fresh produce to Collingwood in the north, Cobourg and Peterborough in the East, and London in the southwest, their catchment area is quite large.

Bondi was also recently Feast On® certified! Woohoo! That means more local food getting onto the plates of restaurants across Ontario.

Discover Bondi Produce

For restaurants, Bondi Produce is a great company to work with to get more local food on your menu. Read on for a bit of their story.

The Story of Bondi Produce

In 1976, Ignazio Bondi immigrated to Canada and, after trying several jobs out, headed down to the Toronto Food Terminal to stock up on fruits and veggies that he then delivered across Toronto, knocking on doors at some of the city’s many restaurants.

This was the start of something bigger.

By 1990, the business was handed down to Ignazio’s son, Gus, who began carving out the business as a great local food distributor who offered fair prices. He also began sourcing potatoes, onions and root vegetables all from local, Ontario farms.

The business only grew from there, forging more relationships with local suppliers as well as some from abroad. By 2014 they were in a 40,000-square-foot facility in Toronto- woah! These are no small potatoes (pun intended).

Working with Bondi

Are you a restauranteur who thinks forging a partnership with Bondi could be beneficial? Keep reading.

One of the biggest benefits is Bondi’s selection. Working with 300 farmers and offering thousands of products, it’s hard to find a selection this big elsewhere.

They also deliver 7 days a week from their delivery centre in Toronto with over 50 trucks going across the province. Now that’s service!

Finally, Bondi is transparent. While not all their suppliers are in Ontario, you can see where everything comes from. In fact, check out the list of their partners on their website.
